Cindi Lux

Cindi Lux is a 12-time road-racing champion. She is the inaugural champion of the American Le Mans Series Women’s Global GT Series. She has also won the prestigious SCCA June Sprints two times, once driving a Corvette and then, driving a Viper. Cindi seized the silver medal in the 2006 SCCA National Championship in T1. She has captured more than 85 victories and over 156 podiums in her career. She races in high profile events such as the Petit Le Mans, Portland Rose Cup and SCCA Runoffs and has competed with impressive results as a factory driver for MOPAR and Dodge Motorsports in the SCCA World Challenge GT Series. Cindi’s knowledge, talent and friendly demeanor make her a natural not only here at the Ford Performance Racing School, but in countless new car media drive launches around the world.

Dan McKeever

FPRS General Manager Dan McKeever has been racing since childhood. He has been involved with virtually every auto manufacturer and has played major roles at several other racing schools. Dan won the 2000 Legends Car National Championship, has competed in Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge events, lead the 2008 25 Hours of Thunderhill by a two-lap margin and most-recently captured the 2010 NASA Spec Miata National Championship.

Gunnar Jeannette

Gunnar has a long history at LeMans after becoming the youngest finisher on record in 2000 at the age of 18. Since then the young American has competed at the famed French race 8 times with several class podiums and a best overall finish of 5th with the factory Panoz LMP1 Team. He has raced both in the US & Europe for the Factory Panoz effort and Ford Racing’s sportscar program in addition to several other Private teams. Narrowly missing the inaugural LMPC Championship in 2010 Gunnar came back in 2011 with co-driver Ricardo Gonzalez to claim the title. Gunnar has also recently been involved with the revolutionary Deltawing Program registering the car’s first ever finish at Petit LeMans with partners Nissan & Michelin.

When not driving racecars professionally you can find Gunnar doing various Historic Racing events around the country in everything from early prototypes like a Ferrari 250LM & Porsche 917 to more current cars like Porsche 962s & RS Spyders. While keeping fit, he enjoys cycling, triathlons as well as rock climbing, with the goal of one day climbing the famous El Capitan in Yosemite. Gunnar also has notched up several thousand skydives & BASE jumps. After starting skydiving in 2004, Gunnar caught the jumping bug quickly and has participated in multiple world record skydives and flown Wingsuits off cliffs in the 3 different continents.

Brian Smith

Brian is one of the few drivers in the world to have been trained by Michelin’s prestigious test driver training program. Beyond this training, he excelled at testing to become known as one of the best evaluators in an already elite field. He was entrusted with their BMW, Viper, race tire, and other programs. In addition to testing, he has proven skills in racing with a smooth and fast driving style that has resulted in top finishes and prestigious accolades. This combination of skills has led Brian to being effective at quickly and accurately analyzing car setups and evaluating their performance.

Ty Hamill

Growing up in Southwestern Virginia, Ty Hamill inherited the road racing fascination from his father. He began autocrossing in SCCA and PCA events on a local level while attending Radford University where he earned a degree in Biology. Ty has competed successfully in Formula Fords and a variety of showroom stock vehicles during his career including a Porsche 944 in the IMSA Firehawk series.

Ty has worked with many automotive manufactures on new vehicle launches, press events, consumer events, training videos, and precision driving for press reveals. Over his 26 years of driver training and coaching, his career has taken him all across the United States, Canada and many Latin America counties as well. Ty resides with two sons in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mark Claussner

Mark Claussner is one of the most versatile drivers in the U.S. He raced in Europe in the ASCAR Series. He raced in the Nationwide series in a Ford Mustang for primary sponsor CLR in 2000. He also raced in the Baja 1000 on a motorcycle. In the winter, he raced in the Ultimate 500 which is a 500 Mile Cross Country Snowmobile Race. He was the official driver of the flame for Olympic Torch Relay in the 2002 Winter Olympics.

In his spare time, Mark is also a precision driver for movies & commercials, doing high-speed chases, technical stunts, off-road, snow driving in ATV’s, snowmobiles and motorcycles.


Michael Self

Michael Self

Michael Self began racing at the age of 10 in a 4 cycle Jr. Honda go-kart. Then, Michael competed nationally in the Junior Rotax category winning multiple regional and national races. He was the #1 ranked driver in the country in the Rotax Jr. field. He represented Team America in 2006 at the Rotax World Finals in Viana Do Castelo, Portugal. In 2010 Michael competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West with Motorway Motorsports based in Sacramento, CA. In 2011 he was asked to join Richard Childress Racing as the primary West Coast development driver for the Golden Gate Racing Team. Michael captured 2 wins and 7 top-5 finishes in the 2012 season.

Troy Muller

Troy Muller began his racing career in the mid-80s. During this time he also worked as a chief mechanic for the famous race team of Dan Gurneys All American Racers. Soon after, he moved to England in 1985 to race in the ultra-competitive formula Ford Racing series. He returned to the U.S. to race Hondas and Toyotas in the IMSA Firehawk series at famed racetracks all around the U.S. He continued racing sports and formula cars through the mid-90s.


Drew Staveley

Drew Staveley

FPRS Senior Instructor Drew Staveley started his racing career in 2002 by winning several SCCA National classes. In 2008, he finished in the top 10 at the 24-hrs of Daytona driving a Mazda RX-8 in the GT class. He also captured several top 5 finishes in the Rolex GT series as well as the Mazda MX-5 cup.

Drew spends a fair amount of time racing in the dirt too. At the young age of 14, he started racing downhill mountain bikes along the west coast. He raced a Class 5 Unlimited car to several podium finishes in the MORE series. He also drove a Ford Ranger Class-14 truck for the “Best in Desert Series.”


Charlie Putman

Charlie Putman

Over the last eleven years, Charles has competed strongly in the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge Championship, claiming 10th overall in 2008; the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge as overall Champion in 2010, and the Grand AM Rolex GT series with a 9th place overall season finish in 2012. He has also been a recent addition to the FIA GT3 scene in Europe, running in a variety of countries with a notable 9th overall in the 2013 British GT Championship race at Silverstone, and continues to race domestically in the new IMSA Tudor GT Series. He also continues finds time to race in a few club level NASA and SCCA events each year.

Teaching now at the Miller Motorsports Park for over 7 years, Charlie’s passion and enthusiasm for teaching and interacting with students contagiously brings out student performances that surprise even the students themselves.

Ronnie Swyers

Ronnie Swyers

Ronnie was inspired at a young age from his late uncle, a local admired Northwest Porsche racer. Building his first car his junior year in high school auto shop, Ronnie began auto racing the following year in the most hyper competitive classes in the northwest earning numerous championships in SCCA regional and national divisions over the next several years. He started karting at the age of 29, about 20 years after most your racers, earning 2 Regional Tour Championships in the 125cc Shifter Kart class in three years. He has experience in team development and management in the STAR Mazda Championship Series from 2004 – 2006 and car chief and driver development in the SCCA Playboy MX-5 Cup Championship in 2007-2008 with 3-time series champions. Ronnie has been teaching, coaching and improving driver’s abilities for nearly 24 years.


Johnny Kanavas

Johnny Kanavas

FPRS Lead Instructor Johnny Kanavas has over 25 years of competitive driving experience and has raced everything from vintage sportscars to Formula Cars. Johnny K began his career in go-karts and has competed in IMSA, GRAND-AM, World-Challenge, Mazda MX-5 Cup, Vintage Racing, Formula Drift, NASA & SCCA Club and Pro racing, and more with factory, privateer, and his own teams. With a passion for endurance sports car racing, he has raced in many different cars and classes in races ranging from 1 to 25 hours. He’s been a regular competitor in the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series and has also worked as a stunt & precision driver for manufacturers, commercials, and TV/film. Through his career, he has been involved in all sides of motorsports - working as a Crew Chief, Mechanic, Fabricator, Team Manager, Race Director, Driver Coach, Strategist, Engineer, Marketer, and of course Driver. Johnny loves teaching his craft and has been instructing, coaching, teaching drivers & racers of all levels & disciplines, manufacturers, military, and racing organizations for over 20 years.

Outside the racecar, Johnny is an avid music fan and drummer.

J.R. Smith

J.R. Smith

J.R. Smith has competed in a variety of racing sports since he was a teenager including off road and road motorcycles, fuel dragsters, power boats, sailboats, road race cars and bicycles. He is a licensed PCA driving instructor as well as an instructor at Miller Motorsports Park. J.R. is also an Elite USA Cycling Coach. For over 20 years, he has coached National and World Champions as well as trained a successful Mt. Everest climber and NASCAR, ALMS, and 24 Hour of LeMans competitors. J.R. is a Regional SCCA Class-Champion and is a 2013 NASA Regional and National Champion.


Donny Edwards

Donny Edwards

Donny “Fireball” Edwards shares his passion for race car driving with others as the Chief Director of Licensing the National Auto Sport Association [NASA], along with instructing here at FPRS. Donny began his career racing ATV’s, quickly becoming a divisional champion and moving into racing off-road buggies, which ultimately led him to road racing sports cars. As his skills developed, he followed his natural urge to teach and has been sharing his passion for racing ever since, working for other racing schools, companies, & manufacturers in the industry. Donny’s experience ranges from amatuer to pro racing in everything from Mustangs to rare & uniquehistoric cars. In 2014, Donny competed in the prestigious Classic Le Mans Historic event in a Lister Jaguar, which is one of the most memorable events of his career.


John Williams

John Williams

John Williams is a Pro Lite off road racer who has completed in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. John has been a longtime instructor at the Ford Performance Racing School.
